Thanks to everyone that made the book fair and our buddy breakfast a great success. We could not do this without donations or volunteers, thank you all so much. We hope everyone enjoyed the event.
Consider over the holidays with all the new books and toys, perhaps its time to clear out those book shelves. There is a bin located in the lobby of school to collect gently used elementary aged appropriate books. We use these books so that all students can receive a book, and we are continuing to stock the lending library. We are especially in need of chapter books.

Join Cub Scouts!

Pack 136 is a group of boys attending KG through fifth grade in the Kennett Consolidated School District and surrounding private schools.  Our Scouts participate in activities that are lots of fun but also teach life skills, build confidence and character, and instill strong core values along the way.  Cub Scouts is a family activity; parents participate with their boys, and siblings are always welcome. The program is flexible and easily accommodates busy families’ schedules. We meet two Tuesdays a month, and also get together for a fun weekend activity each month.  Our Pack is currently open to all interested elementary school boys and their families. Boys may join at any time during the year.

We have a lot of great activities planned this year.   We’ll camp, build and race cars, hike, go skating, visit treehouses, fish, spend the night at the Franklin Institute, roast s’mores, march in parades, collect canned food for the food bank, and so much more. Want to see what Cub Scouts is all about?  Contact us at [email protected] or join us at our next Pack Meeting.  We meet on the third Tuesday of the month  @ 6:30, St Gabriel’s Hall,  8910 Gap-Newport Pike, Avondale PA 19311.

Got a KG’er?  Ask us about our new Lion’s program – an awesome intro to Cub Scouts for boys in kindergarten!

PA Department of Health Updates Immunization Policy

May 2017

In March 2017, the Pennsylvania Department of Health amended its regulations regarding school immunizations. These regulations take effect August 1, 2017 and will impact students for the 2017-2018 school year. The amendments will affect many students in the Kennett Consolidated School District and any student who is not in compliance by August 28, 2017 will face exclusion.

Changes taking effect:

1.    The deadline for immunization verification is now the first day of the 2017-2018 school year, August 28th 2017. Previously, school administrators could work with students and families until well into the school year before a student faced exclusion. This is no longer the case. Any student who has not provided proof of immunization by August 28, 2017 will face exclusion.

2.    All students need 4 doses of the polio vaccination, with one dose AFTER the 4th birthday. This amendment could affect students of any grade.

3.    Students entering 7th grade need the Tdap & Meningitis Vaccines, and they are now subject to the new deadline of August 28, 2017.

4.    Seniors in the 2017-2018 school year will now need a meningitis vaccine by August 28, 2017. This is the second of two meningitis vaccines that are required for students.

Letters were mailed in April to KMS parents/guardians of students who need vaccines prior to August 28th. If you have any questions regarding where your child stands, please contact Diane Shannon, RNC, MSN at[email protected] or 610-268-5874 before June 14th.

If you do not have access to health insurance, immunizations can be obtained at the Chester County Health Department.

Walk-In Immunization Clinics are Tuesdays 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Wednesdays 12 noon – 6 p.m. with no appointment necessary. However, you must bring your immunization records.

601 Westtown Road
West Chester, PA 19380
610-344-6252

Again, any student who is not up to date by August 28, 2017 will face exclusion.
